Mayhem

Where the chaos of new management meets clarity, humor, and hope.

About This Blog

Let's be honest—your first management role is equal parts thrilling and terrifying. One day you're chatting by the coffee machine with your teammates, and the next day you're the one responsible for their performance reviews. Talk about mayhem, right?

Management Mayhem is your survival guide through the wild, wonderful, and occasionally nightmarish world of new leadership. This isn't your typical corporate blog filled with buzzwords and unrealistic advice. Instead, you'll find real talk about the messy middle of management—the awkward conversations, the "fake it 'til you make it" moments, and yes, even the victories that make it all worthwhile.

What You'll Find Here

Real Stories, Real Solutions: Every post tackles the challenges you're actually facing, not the ones leadership books pretend you're having.

Humor That Heals: Because sometimes you need to laugh to keep from crying (we've all been there).

Practical Wisdom: Actionable advice that works in the real world, not just in theory.

Encouragement Without the Fluff: Honest support that acknowledges how hard this job can be while reminding you that you've absolutely got this.

About Your Guide Through the Mayhem

Hi, I'm Ebony Robinson, creator of the Peer2Manager Success System. My journey into management started like many others—with a promotion, a healthy dose of confidence, and absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into.

I learned the hard way that managing former peers is like trying to change clothes while riding a bicycle in traffic. It's possible, but it requires skill, balance, and probably a few minor crashes along the way. Through trial, error, and more coffee than any human should consume, I figured out how to navigate the transition from peer to leader.

The greatest compliment I ever received as a manager came years later when a former employee, now in his own leadership role, told me: "I try to manage the way you did." That moment reminded me why this work matters so much.

My Mission for You

I'm not here to turn you into a carbon copy of me or anyone else. The management world has enough cookie-cutter leaders, thank you very much. Instead, I want to help you develop your authentic leadership style—one that honors who you are while growing into who you're becoming.

Whether you're three days or three months into your management journey, this blog is your space to feel seen, supported, and maybe even entertained while you figure out this whole leadership thing.

Ready to turn your management mayhem into manageable success? Let's dive in together.

New posts drop every week. Because even in mayhem, consistency matters.

Why Everyone Thinks They Should Be in Sales (Spoiler: They Shouldn't)

Ah, the magical world of sales hiring, where everyone's cousin's friend who "loves talking to people" thinks they'd be perfect for your team, and your CEO keeps suggesting you hire their golf buddy who "really knows how to connect with clients." Welcome to the land where extroversion is confused with sales ability, where "I'm a people person" is considered a qualification, and where you're expected to turn coffee shop small talk into quota-crushing performance.
